The thing is. If we don’t take the time to destress, we can’t heal. We can’t lose weight. We can’t reap the benefits from exercise. We can’t THRIVE.

Put simply, stress puts our body in ’emergency’ mode (the sympathetic nervous system is activated and the HPA axis is on crack). This emergency mode is catabolic in nature which means it ‘breaks down’, we can’t rebuild and recover in this state.

Can’t sleep? Chances are you’re in a sympathetic state.
Adrenal fatigue?
The big C or the big HD?
You’ve gotta destress.

We want to activate our parasympathetic nervous system, which is the opposite of the above. It relaxes us, it nourishes us, and it rebuilds us into happy healthy peeps.

Of course we need a balance between the two, but very rarely have I seen people who are ‘too relaxed’. It does happen, but I ain’t seen it in person yet.
