Nicaragua Premium Retreat 2026

with Kale Brock

Designed for surfers from low to high intermediate (Jan-March) and surfers from intermediate and above (Aug-Sept).

Enjoy an abundance of incredible waves from long, rippable points to fun beach breaks on the Pacific Coast of Central America.

We’re stoked to announce a continuation of our premium surf coaching experience in Nicaragua!

In this premium retreat with Kale, surfers will take advantage of the Nicaraguan surfing coast from the comfort of Mellow Resort. The ideally located accommodation will enable total immersion in several breaks, all nearby to the resort.

Kale and a small group of surfers will seek a variety of waves from perfect, peeling point breaks offering open canvases for developing turns to extremely fun, progressive beach breaks (and even some tubes for those who are ready!).

ALL our retreats in 2025 SOLD OUT, which means that if you truly want to come along, we recommend you book asap.

Surfing Level and Progression

Who is a low intermediate surfer? A low intermediate surfer is someone who can take off with relatively high consistency and can cut across the open wave face. They may be learning to generate speed and perform small manoeuvres.

Who is an intermediate surfer? A high intermediate surfer is someone who can take off with confidence on various wave types and is performing manoeuvres regularly on the wave face. They may be looking to improve their timing, turn intensity and flow.

All surfers are expected to be able to surf independently in the water (amongst the group) - we can help you wherever you’re at with your surfing and there is zero performance pressure!

By working closely together with Kale throughout the entire week, surfers will be able to identify the patterns or sub-optimal techniques holding them back and begin to optimise them for better surfing. Utilising The Surfer’s Roadmap curriculum and a fun and friendly approach, Kale will unlock years of progression in this retreat.

Accommodations

Mellow resort offers luxurious, comfortable villas and appartments for our guests with AC, wifi, a pool and a restaurant / bar (with a barista machine).

With all food and non alcoholic drinks included, guests are extremely well looked after from the comfort of Mellow, which resides on a hill a mere 800m away from one of our regularly surfed waves.

Meals include items such as tropical smoothies, avocado toast with eggs, steaks, fish curry, tacos and more. On longer surf outings snacks such as local Swiss-made banana bread, fruits and burritos are taken, along with fresh and sparkling water and electrolyte drinks.

Guests can store surfboards in the dedicated retreat truck, allowing them to simply turn up in the mornings in their board shorts ready to go (with a freshly made latte in hand!).

Testimonials from our 2025 Nicaragua retreat attendees

  • "Being with TSR is an amazing experience! They are on it; capturing everyone's wave and making sure everything is thought of. The video footage and analysis helps you implement Kale's coaching in the next session."

    - J Nica, 2025

  • "Kale runs a first-class surf retreat in Nicaragua. He's super dedicated to his students, and his coaching with video feedback gives you clear focus points to work on when you're on the trip, and then when you leave and go surf on your own. Add in a great local guide, fantastic food and comfortable accommodations, and youi can't ask for a better trip."

    - B Nica, 2025

  • "After seeing my fails and successes on camera, and learning how to improve, I now have developed a very clear picture of what my surfing looks like even when I'm on my own. I have learned to self evaluate and can pick things to improve on after every wave."

    - T Nica, 2025

  • "I've been stuck at that intermediate plateau for the last ten years. The film analysis and coaching revealed insights that I wasn't aware of in my surfing; it gave me a new lens to view surfing through. I wish I had done this sooner!"

    - D Nica, 2025

  • A super peaceful, comfortable stay with great food and a massive variety of waves close by. Kale’s coaching style brought together a group of strangers that, after 6 days, became friends who cheered along each other in the water! Very insightful coaching insights every day, and I’ll be working on all the advice until I come back next year!

    - J Nica, 2025

  • We surfed alone pretty much the whole time in epic, often picture-perfect conditions (something I’m still wrapping my head around) which allowed for a true total immersion in surf progression. Add to that, we stayed in luxury, were fed incredible meals, got massages and had many laughs together as a group. See you next year!

    - A Nica, 2025

  • I’m so grateful for the experience. Thankyou!! I have a lot to work on, but now I have ave a clear path to do so. If you run more of these next year, I am down 100% no questions asked.

    - A Nica, 2025

  • The coaching has completely changed my perspective on how much more time and space I have on each wave (especially in the more critical parts). My buddy at home, who surfs way better than me, was so impressed and told me “I look like a normal surfer’ now, which I’m taking as a massive compliment!

    - X Nica, 2025

  • Awesome. Such an incredible experience. Amazing, empty waves, luxurious accomodation and great food. Please make sure we’re the first to know about next year’s dates!

    - H Nica, 2025

  • I’ve been to retreats before & nothing has come close to this quality of coaching.

    - I Nica, 2025

  • A rose this week has been the quality of coaching - it exceeds everything else out there.

    - S Nica, 2025

  • The food, the people, the empty perfect waves…amazing. The coaching far exceeded my expectations - I’ll be coming back with my son next year!

    - B Nica, 2025

Let's Go
  • We expect all surfers to bring (at least) 2 surfboards with them on retreat. Check out kalebrockdesigns.com for inspiration.

Each surfer should also bring appropriate gear for water temperature (Nicaragua is warm to hot), leashes, zinc and wax, as it is not always guaranteed you can buy this on location. We will provide finer details closer to the retreat.

  • You will be expected to arrive on the same day as indicated on your allocated retreat. For example, if your start date is the 1st December, please plan to arrive that day. This is not included within the coaching days, which will commence the day AFTER your retreat starts.

The shuttle from Managua Airport takes approximately 3.5 hours to arrive at the hotel and will be arranged once we receive 1: your final payment and 2: your itinerary.

Checkout occurs on the final date of your retreat for example, if your retreat end date is December 8th, you will leave around 10am on that day post-breakfast.

  • Everything that’s included is indicated on our “what’s included” list above. Please note that we may not list everything that is considered an out of pocket expense.

  • We cannot advise on visas, insurance and associated travel reuqirements e.g. COVID 19.

Please do you research before joining us on retreat! Normally, in Nicaragua you simple pay $10USD (cash preferred) at the airport upon arrival to obtain a tourist visa on the way in.

  • In the event of any cancellation for any reason we are not able to offer a refund or credit as we incur significant operational expense and financial commitment based on your booking.

This is why we highly recommend that you obtain travel insurance as soon as you’ve paid your deposit in order to fully protect your trip. It is not our responsibility if your trip suddenly clashes with an important date or you can no longer attend due to unforeseen circumstances - a good travel insurance policy will have you covered.

Please kindly note that invoices will be due for payment within 7 days of receiving and after two reminders are given your spot may be resold to another party.

*Exchange rates may vary between payments
