If you think about the stereotype of a surfer, it’s that fun, excited, playful guy or gal running down the beach with a big smile on his or her face. That’s not to say that other people aren’t happy, It’s easy to get caught up in the whole ‘more more more’ thing right? I would know, trust me! More readers, more views, more ticket sales, more waves, go bigger and better all the time every single day! On this episode of The Broccoli Roast Jay G returns and together we delve into Australia’s Childhood Health Crisis (my new doc premiering over on YouTube Sunday Dec 9th 7pm AEST @kalesbroccoli). We also chat about business, making money off of YouTube, social media, entreprenInfluencers in Bondi & a whole bunch more. It’s been a I caught up with David Wolfe to shoot my new documentary about children’s health. We had a great conversation, in fact it was a reunion of sorts because I interviewed David a long time ago whilst working for a TV Network. You get the full interview here on the podcast, the polished version will be On this episode of The Broccoli Roast I sit down with Dr Damian Kristof after filming for Australia’s Childhood Health Crisis (Dec 9th, 7pm AEST on YouTube @kalesbroccoli) up at my house in Sydney. We discuss topics such as politics (dare we?), children’s health, social media, health philosophy, inflammation, longevity & more. It’s always a On this episode of The Broccoli Roast I’m joined by nutritionist, author & speaker Steph Lowe (@thenaturalnutritionist). We sit down for a chit chat about the more stupid of the extreme health trends in the industry right now and discuss the idea of extremism in health. I do find it quite strange that people are On this ep of The Broccoli Roast Jay G and I sit back and chat about what we’ve been up to lately. We chat relationships and I bravely share a word of advice on the topic (don’t listen to me, pls). We also chat about getting sick, what does it mean, how should we handle Fasting is all the rage right now. And I’m a big fan. But there’s a way to make your fasts work even better. To avoid going through the inherent pitfalls of hunger and blood sugar disregulation that so many do when they give up food for a certain amount of time. ‘Fasting’ can be interpreted Here’s what it’s like to work from home as an independent filmmaker. It’s often not as glorious as it sounds. Sometimes, although not often, an exciting development occurs. A new email about a film I’m working on, a book or a cool speaking gig. “I think people presume that I spend all day surfing at Whilst in Perth for The Gut Summit a lot of work went down behind the scenes. In the following videos I give you some hints & tips on how to acclimatise to your new location plus you’ll see behind the scenes of my first one-day event! This is the first of many video blogs you Last week the DAA officially announced it is cutting ties with its corporate sponsors such as big food companies Nestle and Campbells Arnotts. In what I suppose was an inevitable move the DAA say that this will serve to curb the public perception that their approach to nutrition & dietetics is somehow influenced by these In this episode of The Broccoli Roast I’m joined by good friend Nic Laidlaw @balancedstudio to chat all about health philosophy, flow state & movement (with a good dose of surf talk). “You can’t hack your way back to health. It just doesn’t work like that.” Nic brings a great, holistic perspective to the health I feel like all the movies we’ve watched over the years projecting this insanely controlled future filled with brain chips and trackers and an overarching government have kind of been… just movies right? But as we continue down this trajectory that we’re currently on, politically, socially, economically, I can’t help but think that Hollywood writers Mandy and her one trillion friends live a happy life in Jack’s gut. They’ve done so for 10 years now, since Jack was born! Mandy loves Jack and thinks he is the best host ever! He feeds his microbes with a bunch of fibre from different whole foods every day, her favourite is Jack’s Mum’s Flow, a film about surfing, mental health & neuroscience will cinematically blend discussions with top neuroscientists and professional surfers to examine how some of the best athletes in the world understand and use their relationship with the sport to support their mental wellbeing. We also meet organisations treating depression and anxiety with surfing as one of their My name is Kale, like the vegetable. Kale Brock. I know that sounds kinda strange. Because it’s almost like Kale Broccoli, and that’s a very cruciferous name to have, but it’s the one my parents gave me when I was born. In fact, after looking at how my career turned out, having a unique and Well who knew that going for your daily run or gym session might actually be a tool for better gut health. Today we look at a study which demonstrates this phenomenon! Welcome to The Broccoli Roast. You guys know that I’ve been banging on about the link between positive exercise habits & good gut health. Today we’re talking all about seaweed – it’s one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. It seems like every week that a new superfood is found, a new property inside some foreign exotic fruit which could save us all from cancer & fix all our gut health ailments. It’s pretty rare that I Today we’re talking about feminism. I had planned to write something interesting here before you watch this chit chat with my good friend Dr. Andrea Huddleston, but honestly, I’m too scared to. I’m worried that if I get something wrong, if I say something insensitive or offend a listener, I’ll have the wrath of the internet Here’s how to use Aloe Vera, the ancient gut healing superfood which has been used for thousands of years. Aloe Vera is one of my top recommendations for those wanting to heal their gut lining, or protect it long term. In fact it’s one of the only whole foods that I’ve taken into my diet
