Premium TSR North Coast Experience

We are hosting 4 retreats in June, 2025 on the stunning North Coast of NSW, Australia!

As a part of this retreat experience you’ll work with TSR Coaches Craig (Beginner) or Grant (Intermediate) as well as TSR Head Coach Kale Brock throughout a week-long surf experience.

You’ll join a small group of surfers whilst staying in a comfortable Australian home and working on your surf progression each day. This will include daily video analysis sessions, surf skate lessons and group surfs (with likeminded students) in incredible, uncrowded waves on the NSW Coast.

With only 6 surfers per group, this retreat has very limited spaces available.

Location & Waves

Our TSR Premier retreat will be hosted on the North Coast of NSW, Australia.

Location will be approximately three hours south of The Gold Coast, and six hours North of Sydney. The exact location will be given only to attending students. We'll be staying in a comfortable home within walking distance to the beach.

From here, you will have access to some of Australia’s best point breaks and beach breaks in a quiet season of the year.

For our beginner-intermediate groups, we'll seek slower breaking, easy entry long rides to work on surf progression.

For our intermediate groups, we'll seek moderately paced, intermediate level waves for progression.

Choosing your retreat level

We will be seeking group-specific surf conditions in uncrowded locations.

Beginner - Intermediate level:

A beginner to intermediate surfer is someone who can independently catch and surf moderately sized waves, and should either be already surfing green wave faces or working up to this level. They may be performing small manoeuvres on those waves or simply learning to generate speed.

Intermediate level:

An intermediate surfer is someone who can independently catch and surf moderately sized waves, perform manoeuvres on the wave consistently but is looking to improve technique and overall flow. Anyone beyond this level is welcome on this retreat.

Retreat FAQ’s

  • You will be expected to arrive on the same day as indicated on your allocated retreat.

Please organise yourself for our first rendezvous which is dinner (6:30pm) on the first day listed of your retreat (for example, if your retreat is the 11-18th, please arrive for dinner on the 11th at 6:30pm)

  • After the 6 days of surf coaching we'll have a final group dinner, you'll spend the night, awake the next morning, enjoy breakfast and be expected to check out by 10am.

  • We expect you to bring your own boards, however certain Kale Brock Designs boards can be hired at a cost of $35 per day.

  • Within 2-4 weeks from the conclusion of your retreat. We do have various media exports uploaded and available throughout the retreat as well.

  • It is unlikely that our Beginner and Intermediate surf groups will surf the same location but if so, we will spread out to avoid density.

  • As head coach, Kale will work with both groups every day

  • We cannot advise on visa’s, specific insurances and associated travel requirements e.g. COVID 19.

We do highly recommend that you obtain insurance (especially if you are travelling from overseas) and provide us with the details.

You can find a packing list recommended by Kale here

  • Our surf experiences are strictly non refundable. As such, we strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to protect you should you need to cancel.

Deposits are non refundable and final payments are non refundable. This is because we commit this equity to securing locations and the heavy administrative duties involved in organising these experiences. In most cases, you are able to sell/transfer your place on an experience to another person. If there are external circumstances out of our control which prevent us from running the experience (natural disaster, pandemic travel restrictions, political upheaval, war etc) we will offer you a credit on the experience to use at a later date.

TSR Student Testimonials

  • “I’ve improved more in 1 week than I have over 20 years of surfing! I’m so grateful to Kale and also incredibly annoyed at myself! Why didn’t I do this earlier!? I finally know what I should be doing to progress my surfing.

There are coaches and then there’s Kale. I don’t think there’s another surfer at Kale's level who also has the natural gift of coaching.”

    Seb (TSR Nicaragua Student)

  • “When I’m surfing now I have so much more awareness about what to do on a wave to keep me in the power zone and to actually progress. Kale definitely has the sport of surfing broken down into its precise components and has a great skill in explaining those components to anyone.”

    Tim (TSR Maldives Student)

  • “Kale has produced a surf coaching program that has made strong surfing technique bioavailable to his students. I now know I can improve and how I can improve.

My world has opened up so far as surfing is concerned and I couldn't be more psyched.”

    Kevin (TSR Nicaragua Student)

  • “My 1 week in Nicaragua with Kale was exactly what I needed to get my surfing to the next level.

Kale has a special gift in not just seeing the complexity of surfing, but more importantly, he has the gift of being able to break the complexity down into simple instructions / cues for his students... I will be back for more! “

    Kasper (TSR Nicaragua Student)

  •  “He’s an amazing coach. He breaks down the fundamentals of surfing and its biomechanics really well with excellent articulation. The side by side video analysis was particularly helpful for me and has definitely helped me take big steps forward in my surfing this week.”

    John (TSR Maldives Student)

  • What normally would take me years of trial and error I learned in 1 week with Kale. He truly has a passion for surfing and teaching.

This retreat has given me a new perspective on how I view surfing and it’s something I wish I had access to 20 years ago. Already looking forward to the next trip!“

    Joey (TSR Nicaragua Student)
