Surfing Level and Progression
Who is a late beginner surfer?
A late beginner surfer is someone who can surf and catch waves independently and should be cutting across the wave regularly (surfing the green face). A late beginner might be working on improving their wave entry, pop up and speed flow on the face of the wave.
Who is an intermediate surfer?
An intermediate surfer is someone who is cutting across the face of the wave every time. They are comfortable in head-high to overhead waves and might be working on their speed flow and basic manoeuvres such as bottom turns, top turns and re-entries.
Working with Kale
-
“Kale’s an excellent surfer. Anyone who’s seen him surf knows that, but it’s his intellectual and sequential breakdown of the skills that you require to be a good surfer that set him apart from anyone else in the industry. He can immediately assess your surfing and provide you with the key to unlock your next leap forward.”
Toby (TSR Maldives Student)
-
“The quality of coaching has been way higher than I expected. He’s (Kale) totally transformed my surfing from just competent to now feeling dynamic and powerful so I’m stoked.”
Forest (TSR Maldives Student)
-
“When I’m surfing now I have so much more awareness about what to do on a wave to keep me in the power zone and to actually progress. Kale definitely has the sport of surfing broken down into its precise components and has a great skill in explaining those components to anyone.”
Tim (TSR Maldives Student)
-
“There’s been huge improvements in my surfing. Kale’s awesome – it’s almost like going on a surf trip with a mate except he has these incredible hacks that advance your surfing so quickly. It’s been really great for us.”
Clinton (TSR Maldives Student)
-
“He’s an amazing coach. He breaks down the fundamentals of surfing and its biomechanics really well with excellent articulation. The side by side video analysis was particularly helpful for me and has definitely helped me take big steps forward in my surfing this week.”
John (TSR Maldives Student)
-
“Having Kale out in the water to talk through technique live while it’s happening, whatever specific thing we’re focusing on, has been tremendously helpful and gives me clarity about what to do to keep improving.”
